I love the slow...Such a great post, and so dead on! I love the slow build up too; I can't invest myself emotionally into the story unless the characters AND the relationship are not well-developed. In fact, when favorite authors of mine write a short story for whatever reason, I always feel cheated because the relationship always seems so rushed.
